About the Award
“We are proud to honor Plastics News’ 2014 Best Places to Work businesses. Combining outstanding, hard-working business leaders, who are always striving to improve their culture through excellence is a formula that organically will result in a great place to work,” said Plastics News Publisher Brennan Lafferty.
“If you want to know if it’s a great place to work, ask the employees what they think,” said Peter B. Burke, president of Harrisburg, Pa.-based Best Companies Group. “That is exactly what we did to identify the organizations that made Plastics News’ inaugural list. High employee engagement is no accident. It’s a concerted effort by managers and employees alike to create environments where all associates love to come to work.”
About the Survey
This survey and awards program is designed to identify, recognize and honor the best employers in the plastics industry, benefiting the industry’s economy, workforce and businesses. Plastics News’ 2014 Best Places to Work list ranks 10 qualifying companies. To be considered for this initial program, companies had to be a plastics processor, compounder, recycler or mold/toolmaker, and fulfill other specific eligibility requirements.
Companies from across the United States and Canada entered the two-part survey process to determine Plastics News’ Best Places to Work. The first part consisted of evaluating each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. This was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey to measure the employee experience. This was worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process, analyzed the data and determined the final ranking.
Plastics News honored all the winners and revealed the final ranking in a special ceremony at the Plastics News Executive Forum (www.plasticsnews.com/forum2014) on Feb. 24 at Saddlebrook Resort in Tampa, Fla. For more about PN’s Best Places to Work program, visit www.BestPlacesToWorkPlastics.com.
